Maara is not an escape — it’s a return.
A return to rhythm, to instinct, to the hush beneath the noise.
Through movement and stillness, texture and trail, you’ll rediscover what the modern world has blurred — the thrill of presence, the intimacy of silence, and the forgotten art of sensing more deeply.
Each step is not just a path through nature — but a path back to yourself.
The Maara journey is designed to awaken the senses — through land, taste, and time.
Ride along ancient paths through sun-kissed vines, led by those who know the land by heart.
Meet family winemakers, taste rare vintages, and share stories over candlelit tables.
Explore local rituals, forgotten craftsmanship, and soulfully curated moments of presence.
Discover Maara's signature routes across landscapes shaped by time and tradition.
Ride through ancient vineyards, dine under olive groves, and stay in timeless estates where history lingers.
Chase the sun through coastal cliffs and wildflower fields. End each day with barefoot dinners under the stars.
Through ochre forests and misted valleys, follow forgotten trails where time stands still and the earth speaks in colors of gold.
Ride with the guardians of ancient lands, from Roman roads to hidden monasteries, and awaken the stories carried by the wind.
InĂŞs Fonseca
Guardian of Portuguese Traditions
Inês weaves ancestral knowledge with warm hospitality, revealing the soul of the Douro and Alentejo through food, folklore, and horse heritage. A former cultural heritage consultant with deep family roots in northern Portugal, she curates Maara’s Douro and Alentejo routes with precision — unlocking private estates, historic vineyards, and artisan tables otherwise closed to the public.
Claude Durand
Horseman & Historian, Provence
A lifelong steward of Lusitano bloodlines, Claude invites guests to witness the harmony of Provence — where ancient terrain meets refined riding.
As a retired classical riding master and historian of Southern French architecture, he brings access to off-market stud farms, and offers context-rich tours of Provence’s Roman and medieval legacy for Maara’s “Legends of the Land” and “Sunset & Silk” journeys.
Samira Bouaziz
Textile Curator, North Africa
From Berber dyes to silk embroidery, Samira brings tactile poetry to our desert voyages — revealing the delicate power of handmade traditions. Formerly a museum textile curator and anthropologist, she designs Maara’s North African immersions, guiding guests through remote artisan collectives and hosting private sessions with master weavers in restored desert kasbahs.
Every member of our collective is a guardian of place, offering not services — but soul.
This is the Maara signature.
“Maara is not just a journey. It’s a return to self. I’ve never felt so connected — to nature, to heritage, and to the rhythm of silence.”
“Every element felt intentional. From horseback moments at sunrise to evenings with artisans, this was a rare blend of authenticity and elegance.”
“It’s the kind of luxury that whispers. The kind that stays with you long after the ride ends. Maara changed the way I want to travel.”
Thoughts, fieldnotes, and quiet revelations from the road. Stories that shape our journeys — and stay with us long after.
Maara curates immersive journeys where the horse is your guide — not your entertainment. Every element — trail, table, texture, silence — is chosen to reconnect you with the rhythm of the earth and the depth of your own senses.
These are not luxury getaways. They are curated chapters — rooted in heritage, nature, and purpose. You may live a Maara moment as a standalone retreat, or as part of a deeper journey integrated with Equus Talks, our intimate event series across Porto, Madrid, Paris, London, Berlin, and Amsterdam.
